With so much to do in the cities, a relaxing trip to Lizard Island is the perfect follow-up to your urban adventure. The high energy of city life and the restfulness of an island oasis combine for this once in a lifetime experience.
Day 1- Sydney Arrival
Welcome to Sydney! The capital of New South Wales is Australia’s biggest and most well-known city. Built around a spectacular natural harbour, Sydney has a vibrant atmosphere with great restaurants, shops, nightlife, and a bustling waterfront. The down-to-earth friendliness of four million ‘Ozzies’ helps you feel right at home. Whether you arrive from an international or domestic flight, your package includes a private transfer to the Observatory Hotel.
Day 2 - Cruise Sydney’s Harbour
Get your bearings in Sydney with your choice of a morning or afternoon sightseeing cruise on the famous harbour (time must be selected at booking). From the water you’ll see Darling Harbour, the Opera House, and exclusive residential areas. You step off the boat with an overall sense of the city’s magnificence. The remainder of the day is yours to explore this vibrant city! Overnight in Sydney.
Day 3 – Tour Sydney and the Northern Beaches
With so much to see in Sydney, a full day tour is the best way to make sure you see as much as you can! Begin with a trip to the historic Rocks area where photos of the convict built villages are a must. Continue to the Circular Quay for wonderful views of the Opera House, and then go for a stroll in the Botanical Gardens. Travel in the comfort of a luxury motorcoach as you tour the scenic areas around Sydney before experiencing the unique flora and history of Ku-Ring-Gai National Park. Return to Sydney this evening – be sure to sample some of the city’s mouthwatering cuisine. Overnight in Sydney.
Day 4 – Sydney to Melbourne
A private car meets you at your hotel in time to drive you to the airport. Fly to Melbourne, the country’s centre for the Arts, where you are met by a private driver and transferred to the Lyall Hotel and Spa. Melbourne bustles with lively cafes, restaurants and shops to explore at leisure this evening. Overnight in Melbourne.
Day 5 - Discover Melbourne
This is a full day to do as you please. You may choose to explore the Royal Botanic Gardens, St. Paul’s Cathedral, Parliament House or the Shrine of Remembrance. A visit to Phillip Island – home to the Penguin Parade – is always a great option. Just ask your Fresh Tracks agent which options are available! Overnight in Melbourne.
Day 6 – Wine Region Tour
Discover Melbourne’s wine region on a small group tour. This intimate tour makes sure that you don’t miss a thing as you enjoy premium wines and fabulous food in the picturesque Victorian Countryside. Spend the day in the Yarra Valley, the Macedon Ranges or the Mornington Peninsula – each of which features a pleasing array of wines (location confirmed at time of booking). Savor a delicious lunch that compliments the days’ tasting and return to Melbourne this evening. Overnight in Melbourne.
Day 7 – Melbourne to Lizard Island
Transfer to the Melbourne airport by private car and fly to Cairns – your gateway to the Great Barrier Reef. Lizard Island Resort’s private beaches are just a short flight from Cairns. You can feel yourself relax as soon as you arrive in this tropical oasis of sandy beaches and bright blue water – this deluxe resort is really the place to get away from it all in style. Overnight at Lizard Island.
Day 8 – 10 – Enjoy Lizard Island
The stunning azure waters off the shores of Lizard Island’s 20 plus beaches are ideal for snorkeling, and the diving here is superb; nearby Cod Hole and Ribbon Reefs draw divers the world over. All meals are included during you stay and among the facilities is a gym and spa centre, in addition to tennis courts and a myriad of water sport activities to try. Of course, more often than not, you’ll be relaxing and soaking up the unmistakable tropical atmosphere of this secluded island in the sun.
Day 11 – Departure
Your Luxury Authentic Australia vacation comes to an end with a flight back to Cairns.
